Information Collected via Google Sign-In

Access to the Application is restricted to holders of a valid @andrew.cmu.edu or @alumni.cmu.edu email address, verified through Google Sign-In. When you sign in, the Service Provider receives your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.

Additional Information You Provide

To build your profile in the directory, you may choose to provide additional information, including your job title, company, skills, graduation year, location, a headshot photo, and mentorship availability preferences. You may also submit content to the Application, such as job postings or mentorship requests.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to display your profile within the alumni directory, facilitate mentorship matching between alumni, power the job board, and share program news. If you submit or receive a mentorship request, the Service Provider uses your email address to send transactional notification emails related to that request.

Third-Party Services

The Application relies on the following third-party services to operate: Google (for authentication via Google Sign-In), Supabase (for database storage, authentication, and file storage of uploaded headshots), Resend (for sending transactional emails), and Vercel (for hosting). Each of these providers processes data solely to support the Application's functionality and is bound by its own privacy and security practices.

Data Sharing

Profile information you choose to add is visible to other verified members of the alumni directory. The Service Provider does not sell your information to third parties or share it for advertising purposes.

Data Retention & Deletion

The Service Provider retains your information for as long as your account remains active. If you would like your account and associated data deleted, please contact the Service Provider using the email address below, and your data will be removed within a reasonable timeframe.

Security

The Service Provider takes reasonable steps to protect your information, including relying on Supabase's row-level security to restrict access to your data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and the Service Provider cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Application is intended for use by CMU MHCI students and alumni and is not directed at, nor does it knowingly collect information from, children under the age of 13.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
